How this tool works

Choose one supported photograph to read its standard EXIF GPS tags locally. If coordinates are present, copy them or explicitly choose to load the map. Reset clears the photo and map from this tool. We do not infer a location from the picture itself.

Frequently asked questions

What is Photo GPS & Map Viewer useful for?

Read a photo’s saved GPS coordinates and choose to show them on a map. Inspect the full-size result rather than relying only on the preview, particularly around fine edges and text.

Is my information stored?

Your text is processed locally in a browser worker. It is not uploaded by this tool or saved in browser storage. Clear releases the working input and result. Downloads remain in your normal download folder.

Why does my photo have no location?

The camera may not have recorded it, or the app used to share or export the image may have removed it. This tool supports standard EXIF GPS in JPEG, PNG and WebP, not HEIC, RAW, XMP-only locations or sidecar files. A missing result is not a privacy certification.

Is the map location guaranteed to be correct?

No. The tool shows saved coordinates, which may be inaccurate or edited. It does not verify the location or identify places from visible landmarks. EXIF GPS tag reference.

Does the map provider see my photograph?

No photograph is uploaded. Loading the optional map contacts OpenStreetMap with the coordinates and your IP address; opening directions contacts Google Maps. Nothing is sent to these map providers until you choose a map or directions option. About OpenStreetMap embeds.
