Image Metadata Remover
Remove EXIF, location directories, comments and other embedded metadata from still JPEG, PNG or WebP images. Preview and download a fresh PNG or JPEG without uploading your photo.
Keep the photo. Leave the hidden details behind.
Your original stays untouched. Nothing is uploaded by this tool.
Still JPEG, PNG or WebP · up to 20 MB / 24 megapixels · one image at a time
Faces, number plates, addresses and other visible details remain. This does not detect information hidden inside the pixels. File dimensions and the new download date will still appear in file properties. Open the image editor if you need to change the picture itself.
Processed privately in your browser — your entries are not uploaded.
Good to know
How this tool works
Choose a still image, review the detected metadata containers and choose PNG or JPEG. The tool draws the decoded picture into a new image, removes extra metadata from that encoding and checks the output structure before offering a download. The original is unchanged. This is not a lossless container edit: original colour profiles, HDR information and ancillary data are not retained. PNG avoids additional lossy compression; JPEG can change fine detail.
Frequently asked questions
What is Image Metadata Remover useful for?
Remove hidden photo metadata and download a checked, clean copy. Inspect the full-size result rather than relying only on the preview, particularly around fine edges and text.
Is my information stored?
Your image is held temporarily in this tab and is not uploaded by this tool or saved in browser storage. Clear releases the working image. Downloads are saved wherever your browser normally puts them.
Does this remove everything private?
No. It removes extra metadata containers, not faces, addresses, number plates or information concealed in pixels. Dimensions and your new file creation date remain visible. Check the picture itself before sharing.
Why is the new image larger or a different colour?
The browser creates a new standard-colour image. PNG may be larger than a compressed photo; JPEG uses lossy compression and makes transparency white. Original colour profiles and HDR information are removed. Neither option promises a byte-for-byte identical image.
Will my original filename or our website be added?
No. The download uses a generic filename and has no author or website metadata added. Unlike our document generators, this privacy tool leaves those fields empty.
