PDF & Image Redactor

Draw and adjust solid redaction boxes, review every page and download a fresh image-only PDF or PNG. Files stay on your device, with no original text layer or document attachments carried into the export.

Hide private details before sharing

Draw solid boxes over the details you want to remove. Export creates a fresh copy from redacted pixels; your original is unchanged.

Cover the whole detail, with a small margin. Every PDF page becomes an image: selectable text, links, attachments, metadata and digital-signature validity are not preserved. Large images are reduced and transparency becomes white. Uncovered details remain visible—this is not automatic sensitive-data detection.

Processed privately in this browser. Files and box positions are not saved when you leave. We do not add author, website or original filename metadata to these privacy-focused exports.

Good to know

How this tool works

Open a document or image, then drag over each detail you want to hide. Use Adjust boxes to move or resize a box, or edit its percentage positions. Review every page after marking, then create and download the redacted copy. Open that download and check it before sharing.

Frequently asked questions

What is PDF & Image Redactor useful for?

Cover private details and export a new file from redacted pixels. Open the downloaded document and check every page, especially page order, clipping and readable text.

Is my information stored?

Your text is processed locally in a browser worker. It is not uploaded by this tool or saved in browser storage. Clear releases the working input and result. Downloads remain in your normal download folder.

Is this just a black rectangle over the original text?

No. The exported file is built from page pixels after the marked areas have been replaced with opaque black. PDF exports are new image-only documents, not edits to the original PDF. Original text layers, attachments, links and document metadata are not copied. The tool checks encoded redacted pixels and the new PDF structure before creating a download.

What should I check before sharing?

Cover the entire detail, including edges, repeated occurrences, barcodes and information visible elsewhere. Review every page and open the downloaded file before sharing it. The tool cannot identify what is sensitive or prevent someone inferring information from uncovered context. It does not erase your original file or any copies already shared.

What changes in the export?

PDF pages become images: text cannot be selected, searched or read by a screen reader. Links, bookmarks, attachments, editing features and digital-signature validity are not retained. Interactive forms and password-protected PDFs are rejected. Large images and pages are reduced to a bounded resolution; colours, sharpness and file size may change. Transparency becomes white.

Can I undo a redaction later?

You can change or undo boxes here before exporting. Once exported, those covered pixels are not stored underneath a removable box. Keep your original privately if you may need it later. Resetting or leaving this page clears the working file and box positions.

Is branding or author information added?

No. Unlike our document generators, this privacy tool does not add our author, website or your original filename to the output metadata. The download has a generic name. Dimensions, file size and the download date can still be visible in file properties.
