Green Screen & Background Replacer

Remove green, blue or a picked screen colour from photographs. Adjust edges, restore details and drag, resize or stretch a replacement background before downloading a full-size PNG.

Your new background, in three steps.

Keep the person or object in your photo and replace the green or blue screen behind it. Everything stays in your browser.

Select your new background

Choose the scene that will sit behind your subject. You can also use a plain colour or leave it transparent.

Choose your original photo first.

Pick the screen colour from your photo

Complete Steps 1 and 2 above. Your photo and editing controls will appear here.

Green clothing and similar colours may disappear too. Fine hair and uneven lighting may need adjustment. This removes a colour, not an AI-detected background. Preview is reduced for speed; downloads use the same settings at full size. Original files are unchanged; source metadata is not copied.

How this tool works

Choose a foreground photo, pick its screen colour and adjust sensitivity and edge softness. Add your own background, drag it into place and resize it. Turn Keep proportions off to stretch its width and height separately. Download a full-size PNG after checking the result.

Frequently asked questions

What is Green Screen & Background Replacer useful for?

Remove a screen colour and position or stretch your own background. Inspect the full-size result rather than relying only on the preview, particularly around fine edges and text.

Is my information stored?

Your photos stay temporarily in this browser tab. They are not uploaded or saved in browser storage. Clear everything releases the loaded photos; your original files and downloads remain unchanged.

How do I replace a green-screen background?
  1. Choose the original photo in Step 1.
  2. Choose the new background in Step 2, or select Plain colour or No background.
  3. In Step 3, tap or click a clear patch of the green or blue screen in your original photo. Avoid the person and the edges.
  4. Check the result, make any small adjustments, then choose Download full-size PNG beneath the image on the right.

Green buttons and ticks mean a step is complete. Nothing is removed until you pick a screen colour.

What is the difference between Remove screen and Fit background?

Remove screen changes which colour disappears from the original photo. Fit background moves, resizes or stretches the replacement image behind your subject. It does not change the subject.

How do I remove a green halo or soften a harsh edge?

Under Remove screen, try picking the screen colour again from a clear area. Increase Colour fringe removal gradually for a green halo, or Sensitivity for remaining screen patches. Blend edges gently softens a hard outline; start low to protect hair and fine details. Edge softness changes the colour-removal transition rather than feathering the outline.

How do I move the background or restore missing details?

Under Fit background, press Move background and drag on the preview. Use Fill frame, Fit whole background or Stretch to frame to change its size. Switch off Keep proportions only if you want to stretch it. Under Restore details, select Restore brush to paint back missing parts of your subject. Use the zoom buttons and Move view to inspect a smaller area. Undo brush stroke removes your last brush mark.

How do shadows and the floating controls work?

Open Shadow and tick Add shadow behind the subject. Depth controls its distance; direction, softness and strength change its appearance. Match the lighting in your new background. The controls float at the bottom while you edit. Collapse them whenever you need more room to see the photo.

What is the difference between Reset adjustments and Clear everything?

Reset adjustments keeps both loaded images but removes your edits, shadow, edge blending and brush strokes. It restores the background position and asks you to pick the screen colour again. Clear everything removes both images from the tool and restores all defaults, ready for a new project. Neither button deletes your original files or any PNG you have already downloaded.
