UK and US tax guide
What the tax options mean
United Kingdom
UK VAT invoices generally need a unique sequential number, supply and issue dates, supplier and customer details, an item description, quantity, unit price, VAT rate and totals. The standard 20% rate is only a starting point: reduced, zero-rated and exempt supplies follow different rules. Only a VAT-registered business may issue a VAT invoice.
United States
There is no single nationwide sales-tax percentage. State and local jurisdictions can apply different rates to different goods or services, or no tax at all. The creator therefore leaves the US rate for you to enter after checking the relevant revenue authority and whether you must collect it.

How this tool works
Complete the five short sections, then open a separate preview page to check the finished invoice. The preview page creates the PDF on your device and lets you return to make changes.
Frequently asked questions
What is Invoice Creator useful for?
Create a professional invoice with flexible tax, currency and PDF options. Check names, dates, tax treatment and totals against the records or rules that apply to your business.
Is my information stored?
The draft is kept temporarily in this browser session so the separate preview page can open it. It is not uploaded to us, and closing the browser session clears it.
Does this decide which tax rate I should charge?
No. It calculates the rate you enter. Check the current rules for the transaction before issuing the document.
What information belongs on a UK VAT invoice?
HMRC generally requires a unique sequential number, dates, supplier and customer details, descriptions, quantities, unit prices, VAT rates and totals. Use the official links above to check the requirements for your invoice type.
Why is there no default US sales-tax rate?
Sales tax varies by state, locality and type of sale. Check the relevant revenue authority and whether you have an obligation to collect it.
